There are a plethora of major events happening this week catering to everybody from artists, jazzbos, indie-rock ’80s fans, snowboarders and a lot more.
The Pangaea Diversity Cafe, featuring local artists and musicians and a lot more, maybe even a Gordon Leigh will be a highlight of Jazzerwocky this week. There is no cost to attend this gathering of local artists, which takes place from 6-9 p.m.

Another big event this week is Jazzerwocky.
This annual mixture of local music and poetry takes place at Whispers, Oct. 22. This year the featured performers are the Scott Davidson  Trio, an all University of Lethbridge student band who will be playing a selection of jazz standards. They will be followed by Gordon Leigh and the Naked Ear who will be fusing seventies jazz/ funk and original songs  mixing jazz with hip hop.

Poets Jay Gamble and Richard Stevenson will also be performing to a backdrop of jazz music. Gamble will be reading to  the tune of some cool jazz, while Stevenson will be reading to the funk rhythms of Miles Davis.
Tickets cost five dollars and are available at to door or from the Music Court and Long and McQuade, plus the Bad Apple spa. Also for jazz fans, the Jerry Granelli Trio plays at the Black Tomato on the west side.

Yet another big event is the kick off to CKXU’s fundrive, Saturday, Oct. 22. Numerous local bands are remembering their favourite ’80s movies  during “Don’t You Forget About Me,” at the Slice to help raise money for CKXYU, 88.3 FM, the University of Lethbridge based community radio station.
Bands performing include Sophomore Jakes performing songs From Top Gun, Exexxxx playing  “Real Genius,” (The band formerly known as… performing  Purple Rain, Unicron playing music from the Transformers movie and Smell the Glove  playing  songs from “This is Spinal Tap.” Admission is $10.
It is one of several events the station and their volunteers will be holding to raise money to cover day to day expenses like equipment, supplies and salaries, beginning with a screening of eastern B.C./ Southern Alberta filmed movie Roger’s Pass on Friday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. in PE275 at the university.
They are also having their cupcake carnival at the downtown library, where a variety of unique cupcakes will be sold. Last year, some of them included a turkey dinner flavoured cupcake among others.

They will also be having a board game bonanza at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Oct. 25. All them are open to all ages except the CKXU FunDrive: Don’t You Forget About Me.

And don’t forget about  Rock n’ The Nation 3 pre-Halloween party, which takes place at the Lethbridge College Barn, Oct. 21.
