The University New Media club is getting plugged in and electrified for their annual art show, March 30 at the Dr. Penny Foster Building downtown on March 30.
“It’s a collection of faculty, alumni and current students in the new media department,” summarized Kimberly Porter, one of the event’s organizers.
“There will be a variety of different works,” she continued adding there will be animation, website design, 3 D models, videos, interactive stories, prints and digital paintings. There will be works from alumni Nathan Veldhoen who will have photos, Nathan Smith who will have a video called ‘Five Full Runs’, Shaun Martens who has 13 digital paintings and a 3 D drawing on a computer station or projector.
And Brad Kinnly who has a clip of animation from Transformers 3 and an animation mentor demo real.
Faculty members represented include Emily Luce who has included five drawings, James Graham who has 3-D models from a game as well as his BFA.
David Clearwater has a print of a digital game map, Anna Pickering has several works and Will Smith has two prints in the show while Leanne Elias has a short video.
Students exhibiting works include He Li, Samantha McBain, Matthew Gaal, Sean Belle, Yu Jing, Chris Koeler, Wesley Mancheten, Stephen Prieber, Sonny Naim, Dallin Summers-Gill, Guy Croteau, Chris Pease, Tyler Skrabek and Kris Doll.
While participating in the show isn’t a mandatory part of the program, organizing the annual show is part of it.
“I’m interested in seeing what the alumni and faculty come up with,” she said.
‘We’re looking forward to it,” she continued.
The opening reception is 6-9 p.m., March 30 at the Penny Building (324 5th Street South). There will be food and drinks available.
