Jonas and the Massive Attraction unplug and sound great

E-mail Print
Back in the day in the early ’90s it seemed like every band and his dog recorded an acoustic CD of the electric hits that made them famous.
Jonas and the Massive Attraction are the latest to do that with ‘Jonas and the Massive Attraction Unplugged.”Click here to hear Jonas and the Massive Attraction
As expected it includes most of the detuned neo-grunge hits from their last CD “Big Slice.”
They pull them off pretty well.
There are the same songs, same dropped D tuning and a couple of  surprises.
The guitar solos from the last album translate well to the acoustic guitar especially on ‘Big Slice.’
And some of them are absolutely beautiful on acoustic guitar including the intro to ‘Burn Bright.’
And though it is an acoustic CD, there is a drum solo on ‘Daddy,’ and some nice guitar picking throughout.
The something special comes on the last track, a very cool, Bruce Cockburnish cover of Stevie Nicks’ ’Edge of 17’ which features an excellent solo on acoustic guitar which has the audience singing along.
It is a tender, acoustic album, recorded in an intimate atmosphere with the audience  in the background. The only time you hear them is singing along to “Edge of 17.”
