Red Ram rocks with the New Weather Machine

E-mail Print PDF

I hit a couple of interesting gigs on Saturday. A revamped New Weather Machine featuring Brad Brouwer on drums and new guitarist Jason Oakes joined Jon Martin of the New Weather Machine rocks out, April 7.  They played a tight set of upbeat original rock and roll music and tossed in a  few obscure covers  for good measure.
Martin dug in and played crazy solos  while Oakes played bug riffs and had his time to shine on a few solos as well as singing  a couple. They played old favourites from their CD as well as a couple new, groovy, hypnotic  classic rock tinged songs.

After that, Edmonton’s Red Ram returned to the slice  with a set of solid riffs and even a few harmonized guitar solos.
They played  a lot of music from their two albums as  well as a couple new songs. Martin displayed not only a powerful voice but an incendiary touch on guitar.
I wasn’t able to stay for headliner Steff Lang.
