Greenshields and friends play relaxed show together

While  I couldn’t stick around to see if “the hammer of Thor will fall at midnight,” as Greenshields promised, I caught a very  easy-going evening with fine acoustic guitar picking and pleasant singing.

Taylor Ackerman opened first by alternating on acoustic guitar and keyboards.
I seldom see him play acoustic guitar and don’t think I’ve ever seen him play keyboards, so was pleasantly surprised. He sang a variety of originals, Treeline’s Ryan Dyck’s song “Sally,” as well as Merle Haggard’s “Silver Wing” and a medley of Willie Nelson songs as well as  a song Ackerman wrote for a truck commercial, even though didn’t get the job, called “Alberta Bound.”
He played some dirty organ on a song called “Trash Talk.”

John Greenshields was in an acoustic mood. He began by playing a few songs with Aden Tyler Bird, John Greenshields and Taylor Ackerman. Photo By Richard AmeryPauls beginning with  the Rolling Stones’ “No Expectations,” with Pauls playing  subdued leads on the electric guitar while Greenshields picked pretty arpeggios on the acoustic guitar.

Tyler Bird joined him on acoustic guitar with Taylor Ackerman on keyboard for their first set. Greenshields took turns singing lead vocals with Tyler Bird, which Ackerman was content in the background adding piano and organ sounds. They played a variety of laid back music  including some Tom Waits and ended their set to rousing cheers from the good sized crowd in attendance.
