Jenny Berkel plays easy-going folk

E-mail Print PDF

Winnipeg based musician Jenny Berkel played an easygoing , laid back set  of jazz tinged folk at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Kristen and Jenny Berkel playing. Photo by Richard AmeryFriday, Jan. 11 for a surprisingly good crowd, most of  them listening intently to every word.

They had to pay attention to get the gist of her ghostly, soft voice. Her sister Kristen added extra accordion and some glockenspiel to fill out her the sound of tenderly picked acoustic guitar. They audience cheered loudly for her after every song, even standing up to cheer on occasion
She sang a couple of songs about Winnipeg.

She noted she was last in Lethbridge  in 2011 and had several new songs.

One highlight was a song  called “Secrets” which was slightly more lively than the rest of her set.
She sang in a beautifully jazzy voice throughout.
