Trimmed down Coal Creek Boys play their favourites

E-mail Print PDF

A trimmed down Coal Creek Boys had some fun sharing new music and new drummer  (new to Lethbridge anyway), Dane Alexander, Nov. 8 at Casino Lethbridge.

They started off with an acoustic set with just  Dino Scavo on bass and frontman John Paul Smith who played stripped down versions of old classics and new material.

They welcomed Jolene Draper on stage to help sing harmony vocals with  a couple of the new songs, which got a decent  sized crowd dancing. They actually had more people in the audience then Hey Romeo did the previous night.the Coal Creek Boys with Jolene Draper. photo by Richard Amery

They got a couple two steppers dancing to an acoustic version of one of my older favourites ‘Mamma Please,’ then Smith plugged in an electric guitar for “Genie” another one of my favourites.

They followed that up with a solid medley of Johnny Cash hits including Folsom Prison Blues and followed that up with  Waylon Jennings’ ‘Good Ole Boys.’
