Two new art exhibits open up at CASA this weekend.
Rick Gillis presents a “Journey Through My Mind”  in one room of the gallery.

“He is a local artist who has been participating in the Lethbridge arts community for more than 10 years. So we have selected some of his paintings,” said curator Darcy Logan.

“He has a really irreverent sense of humour,” Logan observed. Gillis hasn’t exhibited at CASA before but has been part of numerous group exhibitions.

If you closely at  some of these new works, you may recognize famous historical  figures in irreverent and unusual situations.

“ Most of these works have been from the past  three years. He’s  a pretty prolific artist,” Logan said.
The other  exhibit is Marie  Imrie de Gomez’s Gallimaufry II.

“ Her works reflect her travels and experiences through her creative process,” Logan said.

Her exhibit is a variety of drawings, paintings and sculptures made of found object all connected through her journey.
“ It’s an installation, meant to be seen as an entirety,” Logan said.

She exhibited Gallimaufry I at the Bowman Arts Centre.

Both exhibits open at 7 p.m, Saturday, March 8  with an opening reception 7-9 p.m,
The exhibits are both at CASA until April 26
