There was a great time to be had by The Good Time Specials at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, May 31 but not a lot of people to hear it.
I expected at least some of the approximately 35 people in the room to dance to the band’s great groove and beautiful banjo playing roots rock music which was a mix of the Band and a more subdued Shred Kelly with just a touch of NRBQ thanks to some subtle organ playing.
They had a great groove. Their song “Whiskey” was a highlight of their first set which was a marked by jokes cracked from the stage which either nobody heard in the echoey room or weren’t paying attention too though they did applaud.
