The Slice featured one of several Sled Island previews, Monday, June 16, which were a godsend for anyone unable to go the Animal Faces played a Sled Island preview in Lethbridge. There weren’t many people in the audience to begin with though approximately 30 more trickled in by the end of the show.

Advertisement, one of Lethbridge's contributions to the festival hit the stage first with an exuberantly loud and exciting set of straight ahead punk and hardcore music.

Frontman Adrian Sutherland jumped and writhed and sang while squeezing  waves of feedback out of his guitar while bassist  Nigel Derksen and drummer Ryan Grieves, laid back and held the rhythm together. They get better every time I see them and did Lethbridge proud at Sled IslandSolids drummer Louis Guillemette. photo by Richard Amery.

For something a little different, Toronto based indie rock trio Animal Faces played a solid set of loud, ambient indie rock. Bassist  Zach Van Horne sang most of the lead vocals as guitarist Ryan Naray and drummer Aaron Morrice added layers of sound.
They had a great groove and  an appealing sound.

Montreal guitar and drum duo Solids put on a, well, solid, show with a hugeAdvertisement's Adrian Sutherland. photo by Richard Amery, bone crushing sound that sounded like there were three times as many people on stage.

They turned down the already minimal lights on stage though, so you couldn’t really see anything as guitarist / vocalist Xavier Germain Poitras was silhouetted behind his massive stack of amps including two massive guitar amps and a towering Ampeg bass amp.

He and drummer Louis Guillemette took turns singing lead vocals and usually shouted the lyrics together. They provided a big bottom end throughout.
