Vancouver based “country” musician Petunia has always had an eclectic taste in music which he shows whenever Petunia and the Vipers return to Lethbridge, July 7. Photo by Richard Ameryhe plays.

On his brand new album, there are three distinctive sounds, which required three different bands including his touring band the Vipers (Petunia - Writing, Composing, Arranging, Singing, Acoustic guitar; Stephen Nikleva - Electric guitar, Mandolin, arranging.; Jimmy Roy - Lapsteel guitar, Electric guitar, singing.; Patrick Metzger - Acoustic bass, Acoustic lead guitar, back up vocals.

Andrew Millar - Drums, percussion.)  return to Lethbridge to play the Slice, July 7  at 9 p.m.

“ For me it was about choosing the right band for the right song, or my vision of  the right song,” said Petunia en route to Regina, where they will begin the tour for the new album “ Inside of You” which was released on May 24. So he has the Vipers on three songs, an alt rock band featuring guitar whiz Paul Pigat on three songs , a Romanian band on four and two songs featuring just Petunia including the title track.

“ It is a wild album. It is a punk rock album, but not  really punk rock unless you mean wild,” he said.
“ It’s a different view of blues, country, bluegrass music,” he said.
“ I hear a lot of  music and I get bored easily,” he described.

They recorded it in Vancouver and Los Angeles and got it mixed in Nanton by Steve Loree.

“ It was completely accidental,” he said adding the album came together with all of the different bands after a breakfast with a friend who suggest they record.

They are excited about the tour.
“ We drove out of Vancouver and already broke down in Merritt,” Petunia said.

He noted people can expect a fun show.
“ It will be a Petunia and the Vipers show, not that they are ever the same. The Vipers have learned all of the songs on the new album. It will be a lot of fun,” he promised.
