A touch of jazz for Canada Day with Sheena Lawson and Herb Hicks

E-mail Print PDF

It is always a pleasure to hear Sheena Lawson crooning with the Herb Hicks Quartet, so I made a point of checking them out on Canada Day. They played a beautiful afternoon of jazz on the Mocha Cabana patio.Sheena Lawson croons with the Herb Hicks Jazz Quartet for Canada Day. Photo by Richard Amery

Herb Hicks Hicks' fingers flew over the key of his piano with a firm, yet delicate touch, tickling the ivories and the laid bad band  laid  down a smooth groove.

Sheena Lawson perched on a stool and crooned a variety of jazz standards including Cole Porter's  “I Get A Kick Out of You” and  others. They ended with a sultry version of “The Lady is a Tramp.”
