Close Talker play ambient rock

E-mail Print PDF

A good sized crowd came out to the Slice on a long weekend Sunday, Feb. 15 for Saskatoon indie rock band Close Talker.Close Talker played Lethbridge, Feb. 15 Photo by Richard Amery
Frontman Will Quiring observed “ This is way more people than were here last time we were here.“

They played upbeat, delay drenched ambient indie rock along the lines of  Vancouver’s  indie rock stalwarts like Said the Whale and touched on weirder, 2000s indie rock like Afghan Whigs with a touch of Radiohead. They sang superb vocal harmonies and catchy melodies backed by effects drenched guitar.

Matthew Kopperud (guitar, vocals), Jeremy Olson (vocals, bass), and Chris Morien (vocals, drums) provided waves of ambient sound. Among the early highlights was “She's On Fire.”
