Winnipeg's Grant Davidson is finally able to hit the road to support his most recent CD “ Beauty is so Common,” which was released in September.
He visits the Slice, April 30 with fellow Winnpeggers “Leaf Rapids.”
Davidson and Imaginary Cites’ Rusty Matyas did the whole CD themselves, but due to tour scheduling issues, Davidson wasn’t able to go on the road with it until now.
“ This is just a two week tour, but it is nice to get it out there,” Davidson said adding he is pleased with the CD.
“ We did it all ourselves and it has a really full sound. There lots of guitars and pianos. He did a great job with it,” he said.
He is pleased with the tour with Leaf Rapids which includes Nathan members Keri and Devin Latimer and drummer Evan Friesen, who they are sharing with Leaf Rapids. Friesen also plays in Little Miss Higgins’ band the Winnipeg Five and the F-Holes.
He noted the songs are easy to replicate live.
“ I like to think a good song is a good song either dressed up or not dressed up,” he said.
He noted the love show is different than the CD as sometimes there are extended versions of songs and different arrangements.
“ I also have a lot of new songs I’ve been working on,” he said.
After this tour , he will prepare for shows at North By Northeast in Toronto in June.
“ And I’m figuring out how to record a new album,” he said.
“ I haven’t figured out how to finance it yet,” he said.
He last played Lethbridge a couple of years ago as a solo act under the name Slow Leaves.
There is $10 cover for this show, which begins at 8 p.m. at the Slice, April 30.
