Dearly Beloved play dark country

E-mail Print PDF

I finally got a chance to see Steven Foord’s new  swamp/ dark country and roots band the Dearly Departed.
They played a late show at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, July 31 for an enthusiastic audience.

They featured the multi instrumental  prowess of band members Steven Foord and Devin Gergel, bassist Evan Herbst , drummer Dane Alexander and especially the beautifully haunting fiddle and vocals of Megan Brown.

Gergel switched places with Alexander on drums for a couple songs.
They played spooky, roots/ country music, beginning with a song called “Sweet Alberta.”

At times they reminded me of Gergel and Foord’s other band the Necessities and indeed pulled out an old Necessities song.
