Dirty Mountain getting lots of support for debut CD

Get a little dirty with Victoria based roots/ blues/ folk band Dirty Mountain at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, April 22.
Their brand of dirty roots and country music is already starting to make some noise on the airwaves.

CBC has embraced them, so they are part of this year’s CBC SearDirty Mountain visit Lethbridge, April 22. Photo submittedchlight competition.

“It‘s been  a lot of fun. The tour starts again next week. But we’re just going to Alberta and back” said Dirty Mountain lead singer, Elli Hart, enjoying a week’s break in between tours in support of their debut self titled CD.

“We just released it on March 18. It’s received lots of positive feedback,” she said.

CBC is already started playing it and the band ( Elli Hart , Lead Vocals, Guitar; Lane Ardnt, Lead Guitar; Gord Light, Bass and Tom Salter, Drums) are about to release it to college and independent radio stations as well.

“It’s actually well exceeded our expectations,” said Hart, who is inspired by the Tedeschi-Trucks band and Bonnie Raitt.

“ It’s great CBC has been playing it. It means we’ve been able to play more and get our music out to people,” she said, adding while they would rather share their music  by playing it live rather than in a voting competition, they appreciate every bit of exposure they can get.

“ That support has been great. The CBC Searchlight has been very much video based. So we’ve been doing a lot of that. So we’ll see where it goes. The first part is voter based, the you are judged by a panel,” she said.
“We’d rather just get out and play for people. But we’ll see how it goes,” she said.

“If it gets people to come out to see me and the guys then it’s great. It’s all about raising awareness
They are excited to play Lethbridge for the first time with special guest Steph MacPherson.

“There will be a lot of electric guitar and vocal harmonies. It will be a good time. And we’re  Steph MacPherson’s band.  She’ll be opening and we’ll be playing a set with her and then our own set,” she said, adding they have  already been her band for the first leg of the tour.
“So we’ve been playing with her a lot,” she said.
The show begins at 9 p.m., April 22 at the Owl Acoustic Lounge with Steph MacPherson opening. Cover is by donation.
