To begin the week, local traditional country musician Floyd Sillito has a show at the Library at noon on May 4 and at the Galt Museum right after that at 2 p.m.

If you want to laugh, Yuk Yuks comedy returns to Average Joes, May 6 with Banff born comedian Kevin Stobo as the headliner. High River comedian Noor Kedwai will open the show at 8:30 offering the unique perspective of a Muslim growing up in small town  Alberta. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 on the day of the show.
Local funk trio Adequate will bring the funk to Casino Lethbridge on May 6 and 7 at 8 p.m. each night. There is no cover for the shows.

Over at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, bluegrass/ roots musician Ryland Moranz, who has been playing a lot with Leeroy Stagger’s band, releases his new solo CD May 7 with special guest Gillian Moranz. There is no cover for that show either.
The Owl also has an excellent bluegrass show with Calgary alternative bluegrass band Rotary Park and the Bitterweed Draw playing on Friday, May 6.

The Slice has a big local metal show May 7 with progressive rock band Accalia and Quick Draw. Admission is $5.
There is also a big rap show at Inferno this week. What the Hype brings Midwest rappers Doom Squad to Inferno, May 6 at 8 p.m. with Sam MacKey and Kyle Pyke. Tickets are $15 early bird, $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

Inferno also has a big punk/ thrash metal show on May 7 featuring Vancouver punk/ thrash band the Golers, Calgary speed demons the Sick Ritual, World Class White Trash and Gender Bender and Chernoff. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. with the music starting at 9 p.m.

It will be a busy Sunday this week with several fun shows on May 8. Fred Penner plays two shows at Le Cite Des Prairies including a matinee at 2 p.m. and an evening show at 8 p.m. featuring Dave McCann and Tanner James.
Also on Sunday, May 8, the monthly ukulele jam is at Casa 2-3 p.m.

For classic rock fans, the Stampeders (Sweet City Woman) play Bully’s Entertainment Lounge with Papa King and the Boogie Machine. Tickets cost $40 for the show. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The next week will be crazy as the Electric Eye Music Festival begins on May 11 with  50 bands playing throughout the week at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, SAAG, Attainable Records, Plum, Club Didi, Blueprint and the Slice.

As a result, the Slice’s monthly jazz jam is moved to Tuesday, May 10.
That is competing with a big pop- rock show at the Enmax Centre featuring Hedley with Carly Rae Jepson and Francisco Yates at 7 p.m. Tickets range from $49-$70
But for something a little easier on the ears, Steinbach, Manitoba musician Quinton Blair returns to Lethbridge to play the Owl Acoustic Lounge’s open mic on Monday, May 9.
