As expected, things got funky at the Owl Acoustic Lounge for New year’s Eve, Dec. 31with local funk rock trio Adequate.

I was delighted to hear they have added a few more funk fuelled originals. Guitarist Josh Thorlakson was singing one of their older originals, “Get the Funk Out of My House”  as I arrived. It fit in well with their set of ’70s funk, disco and R and B classics. During a campy  prerecorded interlude, Keenan Pezderic took over on lead vocals, singing castrati, while Scott Mezei traded him his bass for a seat behind the drums.

They had a good sized crowd up on their feet dancing and celebrating.

Pezderic sang another original in between plenty of sweaty, sexy funk including Rick James’ “Superfreak, and “Don’t Let Me Down.”

Thorlakson took over on lead vocals again to sing some Earth Wind and Fire.
