E-mail Print PDF

Steve Hillis was supposed to bring his Garth Brooks tribute to the Slice, Friday, Sept.6, but cancelled. So that meant a surprise open mic with several local musicians.Emily Rose playing the Slice, Sept. 6. photo by Richard Amery

I arrived in the middle of a set by local country singer Emily Rose and a drummer who played an array of modern country including a version of Carrie Underwood’s “Before he Cheats.”

She also added a some classic folk including Kris Kristofferson’s   “Me And Bobby McGee”  and “House of the Rising Sun.” For variety she played some White Stripes.
