Comedy and pop punk on deck this week

It’s time to get loud this week.

 There is plenty of  rock and roll and laughter happening this week beginning tonight with  the Owl Acoustic Lounge’s open mic tonight, as in every Tuesday.

 

 Good Times has their usual comedy open mic  tonight as well, as they do every Tuesday.

 And the Owl Acoustic lounge steps into the comedy ring on on Wednesday with the return of “So You Think You Can Comedy.”  Cole Howg hosts an night of comedy with Juan Chris Wipf, Dono Howell, Victor Lyilade Jr., Nico Maximiliano and Niall Larney

Show starts at 9 PM . Admission is by donation.

 

 Part 2 of Impromptu’s  improvised soap opera, the Good, the bad and the Gomorrah returns to Theatre Outré on Oct. 23.

Cole Howg is also hosting the roast of Faris Hytiaa at Good Times on Oct. 22 with roasters Cole Howg, Connor Christmas, Brian Dawydiuk, Alex Carr, Oseremen Irete and Amol Suri. Tickets cost $20.

 

 Danger Cats comedy comes to Good Times on Saturday, Oct. 23 . Brett Forte, Sam Walker and Uncle Hack will be entertaining beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25.

 And The Canadian Brewhouse has their weekly comedy Club night on Thursday, Oct. 21.

 

There is lots to rock to too this week.

 

 Local Tragically Hip tribute the Hip Trip featuring the Mark Hall band and Gabe Thaine get warmed up for their upcoming Nov. 19 show at the Slice, with a show on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at the Slice.

 The Mark Hall band is also hosting Honker‘s Friday night open mic at 8 p.m Paul Elser hosts Honkers Pub’s saturday afternoon jam.

 

If you missed Bridgette Yarwood’s debut show with her new band last week, catch them at the Canadian Brewhouse on Friday with blues musician Eric Braun beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $10 and include a drink. Instead of on the roof top patio where their shows usually are, they show will be in the basement bowling alley pub.

 

 The Owl Acoustic Lounge features The Local Group at 8 p.m., on Friday at 8 p.m.

 

The  Slice features Scott Davidson with Nebula and the John Scott band on Friday, Oct. 22.

 

The Slice features pop punk band the Suit Jacket Society on Saturday, which is a really great night for pop punk. 

 

 Dig out those Doc Martens as The Owl Acoustic lounge has a big punk show on Saturday, Oct. 23 as Calgary ’90s punk mainstays Belvedere wind up their national tour with local bands Sessions and the Youngbloods. Tickets are $22.23. Belvedere turned 25 in 2020, but because touring plans were cancelled due to Covid, they instead decided to record their sixth full length album “ Hindsight is the Sixth Sense.”

And Lethbridge/ Coaldale blues, rock and country band Bow City Underground rock Casino Lethbridge for Friday and Saturday.
