Dave McCann plays new music at solo show at Geomatic Attic Downtown

E-mail Print PDF

I was glad to  finally catch a show the The Geomatic Attic’s Downtown venue, Dec. 11. Paul Kype and Steve Keenan were originally scheduled to play, but were unable to make it but luckily Dave McCann stepped up to fill the void.

Even luckier, he was still playing  after I stopped by after my radio show.

It was perfect timing as he was introducing my favourite Dave McCann song “Fireheart.”

An enraptured and masked crowd listened intently to McCann’s music and stories.

He talked about building bridges and introduced a new song with the catchy chorus “Rolling,Rolling , Rolling.”

He wound down the show with a Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark song, which he prefaced with a  story about meeting Guy Clark in Nashville.

He finished the show with  another new original, “ See You Yonder” which was an apt send off.

But he was called back for an encore about a cowboy singer, but  forgot the lyrics so asked the audience if  he could start over.

Dave McCann and his band the Firehearts are at the Owl Acoustic Lounge on Friday, Dec. 17. There is a $10 cover for the show, which begins at 8 p.m.
