Marcus Trummer band bringing back the blues to the Slice

E-mail Print PDF

Calgary based blues rock band the Marcus Trummer band played the blues and a lot more, bringing back the spirit of ’70s blued based  jam rock bands and literal offshoots like the Allman Betts band (featuring the sons of Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts)

Trummer looked like Leonardo DiCaprio wielding a guitar, belting out barrelhouse blues and classic rock hits.

He traded licks with his blonde maned lead guitarist, Linden Conroy who was busy resurrecting the spirit of Duane Allman on slide guitar.

“Keep On Keeping On” was a highlight of set which referenced bands like the Allman Brothers, classic blues like Buddy Guy and more contemporary bluesman like Gary Clark Jr.

They turned blues classic “Hey Joe” into a talking blues jam with a touch of Hendrix.

They were called back for a multi song encore including a touch of R and B and  a highlight “ Good World Gone Bad.”
