Good Love serve funk with a side order of blues

E-mail Print PDF

I was glad to have caught local funk rock band the Good Love Band at the Owl Acoustic lounge, Saturday, May 21. At least the last couple songs. I’ve missed their last couple shows, so I’ pleased to have finally made it to some of one of them.

The turnout was about expected because of the long weekend.

They played a tight set of high energy funk infused  rock music with  a dash of blues,, which was especially apparent on their namesake song “The Good Love,” which ended their set.

As expected in a funk band, their set featured an unstoppably, toe tapping funky bass groove.

The  had a vintage pop sound featuring soulful R and B vocals that wouldn’t be out of place in the mid ’70s and ’80s and blues tinged guitar solos reminiscent of R and B influenced blues musicians like Gary Clark Jr.
