This week is all about jazz and a little bit of the blues.
Keith Woodrow hosts the blues jam at the Slice, tonight, Jan. 10.
Greg Rekus returns to The Owl Acoustic Lounge stage to host their open stage tonight., Tuesday, Jan. 10.
The first jazz jam of the new year is at the Owl Acoustic lounge with hosts HBO3 and Ryan Heseltine kicking things off at 8:30 p.m. with special guest Mike Carter.
But before that, Sheena Lawson and Randy Epp perform at the Watertower from 6-8 p.m.
U of L based jazz combo Midnight Channel have a regular gig at the Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden Bunka centre on Thursdays at 7 p.m.
For blues, Paul Kype hosts the open mic at Honkers Pub, Friday, Dec. 13.
And the Eric Braun band will be playing the blues for you at Casino Lethbridge, jan 13 and 14.
There are a lot of other fun events happening as well.
Ol’ Ben hosts the open mic at the Slice, Wednesday, Jan. 11. And a new open mic has started on the west side. And Laurie Wintoniak and Mark Hall host honkers pub”s open mic on Saturday.
Open mic and a slice happens at Petals, paws and beans, Wednesday, Jan. 11.
There is a lot of great roots and country music this week beginning, Thursday, Jan. 12 with New Orleans singer songwriters Steph Green and Duff Thompson and special guests local country band Badlands performing at the Owl Acoustic lounge.
For something a little more upbeat, Calgary ambient rock band the Ashley Hundred return to Lethbridge to play the Owl Acoustic lounge with Bailey Kate, Saturday, Jan. 14.
The Lethbridge Folk Club opens 2023 with Edmonton songwriter John Hewitt, Sunday, Jan. 15 with Cathy Hawley opening the early show at 6 op.n. Tickets are $35 non members, $30 members.
Saskatchewan songwriter Ellen Froese returns to the Slice, Friday, Jan. 13 with special guest Richard Inman.
The Owl Acoustic Lounge rocks, Friday the 13th with Dead Army and the Suit Jacket Society, Jan. 13 at 9 p.m. There is a $10 cover for the show.
Calgary Cabaret Burlesque return to the Slice Saturday, Jan. 14.
For comedy, Pro-Amateur night returns to Good Times on Thursday,Jan. 12. Admission is five dollars.
