Looping his voice and any number of instruments in his live performances he paints a rolling landscape with his sound that captures the imagination. The music grows and blooms pulsing with life. His voice can be furious and melancholy often at the same time with lyrics that evoke feelings of longing while leaving the listener plenty of room to fill in the blanks or read between the lines".

astral swans is the solo project of calgary, experimental pop musician, matthew swann (extra happy ghost!!!, hot little rocket). equally inspired by 60's folk, no wave, and 90's sludge, astral swans is at once: haunting, sincere, psychedelic, and strange. (picture nick drake, syd barret, and vashti bunyan, interpreted via sonic youth, guided by voices, suicide, and eric's trip)
