Ballgag N’ Chain Gang rock it roots style

Everyone I talked to raved about the Ballgag N’ Chain Gang’s performance that I unfortunately missed at Ballgag N’ Chain Gang’s Fat Jesus. Photo by Richard Amerythis summer’s South Country Fair, but where were they Wednesday, Nov. 16 at the Slice?

About 10 people pretty much including the wait staff and opening act Toques and Beards saw a stellar show by the Victoria based group of zanies
After a solid set of high voltage rock from Toques and Beards, The Ballgag N’ Chain Gang started things off by showing their more acoustic, bluegrassy folk side, before getting the “crowd” involved singing along to “Everything Goes Better With Bacon.”

But they showed they were more than just a novelty act as underlying their wicked sense of humour was some pretty sweet musicianship.

They are basically a rock band with rootsy tendencies with a banjo, a home made didgeridoo and a wicked sense of humWhite Guy Dance party with the Ballgag N’Chain Gang. Photo by Richard Ameryour. That came through a lot through several songs about smoking on the porch and my favourite, their brilliant satire of ’80s metal called “Suck My Cock Rock,” from their latest CD “Bang.”

They mostly played their rock influenced material including “Organized Crime,” a highlight from the new CD and “Didgerideath” by request. The Ballgag N’ Chain Gang rocking it roots style. Photo By Richard Amery

They sent the audience home laughing around 1 a.m. with the hilarious “White Guy Dance Party,” featuring  didgeridoo/ guitarist The Good Doctor performing some white guy dance moves in a red jumper.
