It is always a pleasure to hear Sheena Lawson crooning with the Herb Hicks Quartet, so I made a point of checking them out on Canada Day. They played a beautiful afternoon of jazz on the Mocha Cabana patio.
Herb Hicks Hicks' fingers flew over the key of his piano with a firm, yet delicate touch, tickling the ivories and the laid bad band laid down a smooth groove.
Sheena Lawson perched on a stool and crooned a variety of jazz standards including Cole Porter's “I Get A Kick Out of You” and others. They ended with a sultry version of “The Lady is a Tramp.”
