LEMF electronic music, Electric Eye and fundraiser among this week's highlights

 The biggest show this week is the annual LEMF (Lethbridge Electronic Music Festival, which takes place in Galt Gardens, Saturday, Aug. 16 beginning at 11 a.m.
The all ages gig features two stages and 24 DJs plus a beer gardens, vendors, food and beverages, an air jump and a spray  park.

Some of the highlights include Groovy Cuvy from Edmonton, Logo, JediCheek and Bass Panda from Calgary, Adam Nics from Edmonton and Toronto, Kelowna's MissDVS and Medicine Hat's Papawydz plus many more.

If you are excited about that, get an early taste of electronic music at Inferno, Aug. 15 which features The Friday Night Project presented by Illegal Frequencies. Performers include AIM, Jem, DJ Rick Sharma, Illegal Frequencies and Erwin the Intern.


 For pretty much the exact opposite to electronica, Electric Eye Music Festival presents a night of mostly Edmonton based noise rock and experimental hardcore music bands at the Slice, Aug. 16 featuring Flint, Boosh!, Gary Debussy and a collaborative sound collage from CKXU DJs called Something to Write Home About. The show begins at  9 p.m.. There is an eight dollar cover.
 The big rock and roll show of the week happens at the Enmax Centre, Aug. 13 with grunge rockers Alice In Chains, Monster Truck and the Pack A.D. Tickets range from $47-$67 for the show, which begins at 7:30 p.m.


 But if you would rather laugh, the Drama Nutz  presents Uncensored Improv at Club DIDI (210-517a 4th Ave S) at 8 p.m. on Aug. 13. Admission is $10 at the door.


There is also country music at Casino Lethbridge with Ontario musician Roger West, who performs  on Aug. 15 and Aug. 16. Inferno has opened their new location in the same building as Pulse and Tom's House of Pizza (1016 1 Avenue South). They are hosting a comedy open mic,Thursday, Aug. 14 at 9 p.m.

 And if you want to hear the hits, the Chevelles are playing all of them at Average Joes on Aug. 15 to raise money for local bobsled athlete Taylor Austin. The show begins at 9:30 p.m.. There is a $10 cover.


 There are also some excellent singer-songwriters performing as Megan Nash returns to the Owl Acoustic Lounge with new music and fellow Saskatchewan songwriter Nick Faye. The show begins at 9 p.m. There is no cover for it.


Fredericton singer songwriter Andy Brown makes his visit  to Lethbridge by stopping by the Owl Acoustic Lounge on Aug. 16 with  Willhorse's Jeremy  Borschnex. Brown   is very popular in Australia and released his latest CD “Tintype” last year.


 On the other hand,  if you are in the mood for experimental jazz and indie rock, Sandwich plays the Slice, Aug. 16.


 Toronto singer songwriter Sarah Burton returns to Lethbridge , this time to play the Owl Acoustic Lounge on Monday, Aug. 18.


Last but not least, get ready for  a big week of live music at Exhibition Park beginning Tuesday, Aug. 19 where Canadian country star Aaron Pritchett will be performing all of his hits like “ Boat in the Water,” “ Sunset City ” and “ Hold My Beer while I Kiss  Your Girlfriend.”
Treeline and Shaela Miller open the show at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free with Whoop Up days admission ($12 in advance, $15 at the door plus $5 parking)
