Edmonton rockabilly influenced rock band the Fuzz Kings had a shameful turnout for their first Lethbridge show at the Slice, Aug. 8.
They had maybe 10 people by the time they started an upbeat show of twangy rock and roll sounding like a the bastard child of the Reverend Horton Heat and Southern Culture on the Skids with maybe a touch of the Stray Cats.
Vocalist/ guitarist Fat Dave brought the spirit of Doug and the Slugs’ Doug Bennett in his vocals.
They played a tight set of catchy, stripped down, bare bones, rock and roll with just a touch of twang and were just hitting their stride by “Codeine and Whiskey,” by which time the audience had just about doubled.
They played with a little Spanish flair for a song and it was back to the rock and roll. and older song “Guilty Conscience off their first seven inch record was a highlight.
