The First Friday of  October was absolutely  amazing  with all kinds of shows  of all kinds of musical styles. The evening started early at the Slice where HBO3 (Paul Holden, James Oldenburg and Brad Brouwer) were holding court as usual for first Friday  for an early evening show at the Slice.Mwansa Mwansa sings with HBO3. They started off with an instrumental set of jazz music featuring Brouwer's subtle drum solos and tasteful leads from James Oldenburg while Paul Holden kept  the groove solid on stand up bass.

Holden picked up the electric bass as  Mwansa Mwansa took the stage to croon sultry jazz like “Valerie” with her, big, beautiful, emotive voice. She also sang a solid version of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Cars,” and even looked a little like her with her facial expressions.

She sang some excellent Alabama Shakes with “Hold On” and showed her R and B and soulful roots on a couple of classics like “Change is Going to Come” and “ Natural Woman” and Stevie Wonder song “Higher Ground” which showed off her substantial vocal chops.
