It is always a lot of fun when Devon Coyote comes to town, even on a Tuesday night.

 The Kelowna based songwriter Devon Bjarnason, backed by bassist D'Arcy Booth and drummer Rod Anderson played an exuberant set of blues, folk and rock music for an intimate audience, March 10 at the Owl Acoustic Lounge.

 I was only able to catch a little bit of their second set but as always was impressed with especially some searing blues guitar he played on a guitar on his lap. He alternated between that guitar for which he played the highlights “Broken Man Blues” and a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “When The Levee Breaks.”

 He stood up to play a plugged in an open tuned 12 string guitar for the more upbeat numbers and another electric for a couple of the slower songs which featured some really tasteful guitar solos.

 His vocals on the slower songs were reminiscent of Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20.
He is working on a new album, which he should have with him when he returns to the Owl to play the weekend on April 11.
