April and May are made for banging your head, moshing and slam dancing as a relatively slow week is marked by the first two of several punk and metal shows happening in April and May. As part of the Drink Till Dawn tour, Red Deer based punk trio DoucheKnuckle come to Lethbridge, April 3 with Calgary punk veterans the Motherfuckers and Mandible Klaw which features members of popular bands the Crystal Mess, Spastic Panthers, the Bloody Hells and X-Ray Cats. There is a $10 cover for the show.

It was to be  at Inferno which was tripled booked. So it will be held at the Coal City Pub in Coaldale, formerly the Vent.

 The next night Inferno also hosts a similarly veined show with Calgary  “heavy” band the Press Gang and Junkies Rush plus guests. There is a $10 cover for that show as well. The Press Gang play music incorporating a touch of punk and a lot of ’70s and ’80s British metal.

 The big rock show of the week is also on April 4 at the Enmax Centre featuring shock rocker Marilyn Manson touring in support of his new CD and opening act Die Mannequin. Tickets for the show cost $60. It begins at 8 p.m.

 Inferno  believes in providing a little bit of everything as they have MC Twist  performing there on April 3 for a free show.
 The Slice is trying out a dance show on April 3 with Langley, B.C. duo Tickling Grandma performing.
 But they bring back local blues rock band Zojo Black to the stage, April 4.

 

Calgary rock band Go For the Eyes return to Lethbridge, April 3 one more time before relocating to Winnipeg. Saskatoon rock band League of Wolves, formerly the Shoeless Joes will also be performing.
 The Owl Acoustic Lounge open up April on Wednesday, April 1 with some experimental  rock courtesy of lo fi no wave trio Ok Vancouver OK and local bands Open Channel and the Birch Barks.
All the other shows worth noting are local shows.

On April 4,  Windy Rock holds a fundraiser for their second upcoming compilation of local bands at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, which is to be released in May . Performers include the The New Weather Machine, Planet Telex and Mick Hayward of the Mormon Girls. While there is no cover charge, it is a fundraiser, so donations will be taken.

The Owl Acoustic Lounge hosts a University of Lethbridge Audio Engineering Society Fundraiser, on March 31 featuring the Rad Suits, Max Hopkins and the Minimums.
 The Mocha Cabana features Alberta acoustic duo the Rural Routes who play music from the ’50s to today. They play from 6-9 p.m. April 3 and April 4.
