Calgary blues/ roots musician Eric Braun and his band brought out the funk and  a whole lot of blues atEric Braun playing the blues at the Slice. Photo by Richard Amery the Slice for about a dozen people, July 11.

He played Canada Day and will also be back for Whoop up Days, Aug. 22.

As expected, the Strat wielding Braun had a lot of  Stevie Ray Vaughan influence but added a whole lot of funk.

There was some great bass playing, subtle keyboards and lots of guitar. Braun told the audience ‘we‘re going to keep it funky’ and was true to his word.

He played lots of covers including Stevie Ray Vaughan’s ’ Pride and Joy’  and a funk fueled cover of Bill Withers’ “Use Me,”  Eric Clapton's version of Robert Johnson's  “Crossroads” and a different, laid back  arrangement of “After Midnight.”
