New Brunswick folk singer/ songwriter Andy Brown has been calling Calgary his home base for the western leg of his Canadian tour in support of his third CD “Seasons.”

“ I like Calgary a lot. I just like it out west. It’s like being in a totally different country than Eastern Canada. In a way it is because Canada is so big. Especially when you drive across it,” he said.

“There’s a different energy and feel,” he continued.

 He enjoyed his last visit to Lethbridge so much that he made a point of booking a show at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Oct. 9.

“ Time has just flown by since I was there last. and the Owl is just a really unique spot when it comes to supporting entertainment,” he said.

“So I’m just excited to play a lot of new songs for everybody,” he said.
he said the new music is in a similar vein as his previous two CDs.

“When I was starting, somebody told me to write what you know. And I don’t profess to know anything about politics. But what  comes naturally is love and love lost. Which is something everybody can identify with. And it is something that  appears in everything from country to death metal,” he said.

 

“There's 11 songs from sweet and soft to more pop rock. So I think there will be something for everybody on it,” he said.
 
“ It’s honest. It’s more songwriting without compromise. Listeners can see if people aren’t being honest,” he continued.

“ It’s more focused and it shows more maturity as a songwriter. I only released it on Aug. 18. So it’s still a baby.”

He said the new CD came together quicker than usual (he released his last CDs in 009 and 2013)  under the tutelage of producer Daniel Ledwell.

“He’s going to be a star. He’s already top of the list on the east coast. He has the ability to develop real clear cut and concise ideas,” he said.
