ocal musicians put a modern twist on bands as bands at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Saturday, Jan. 4.
I caught the end of Bailey Kate’s band trying their hand at Feist’s brand of alternative country. It was pretty solid.
I missed Richard Charlton celebrating his birthday by playing Death From Above 1979, but was really impressed by Joshua Beebe and the Forest Orchestra, featuring 10 local musicians playing the music of Arcade Fire.
They played an impressively tight set of the Toronto based ambient indie rock band’s music, though I am not that familiar with them. I recognized a solid version of “Keep The Car Running.”
I was almost as impressed that all eight of them fit on the stage including two big keyboards, a cello, guitar, bass and Beth Wilson on flute, who also shared lead vocals and harmony vocals As expected, the place was backed, wall to wall.
If you missed them, Joshua Beebe and the Forest Orchestra will be at the Slice with the Cayley, Onik, Wulfboy, Beth Wislon, Barry Livingstone and several other performers for a drop N’ beats fundraiser.
