Local punk pop trio Sessions premiered their new third EP “Reach Around the World” to a full house at the Slice, Sept. 5. I missed opening acts The Oi Street Scoundrels and Berzerker, but caught most of Sessions’ set.
They played catchy ’90s style pop punk along the lines of Blink -182 with a touch of Generation X. I recognized a few of the songs from the new EP including “Already Burned.”
I was wondering how a punk show would look with both singers stuck behind sheets of plexiglass , but it sounded okay as the vocals were a little muffled. Sessions played a tight and energetic set.
The sold out audience we having a good time and Sessions supplied the soundtrack by playing plenty of upbeat songs full of catchy guitar hooks and shout along gang vocals.
They had songs about everyday things like not being able to get a date and more political material including a song about Donald Trump called “Sheeto in Charge” which was their last encore to end their show.
They were called back for an encore and called back up members of the Oi Street Scoundrels to sing and Jon Vornbrock to sing another.
