Local alternative rock group Fawns finished the Allied Arts Council Upside Down town concert series, in Rotary Square outside Casa, Thursday, Sept. 9.

  All summer long, the Allied Arts Council has featured local musicians playing after work concerts from 5-7 p .m. every Thursday.

 it is such a wonderful, intimate location and with being blessed with beautiful weather all summer long, it’s surprising they haven’t done this a lot earlier.

 It’s always a a pleasure to  see Mercedes Fawns and Richard Charlton and company play.

 They released  an EP “Unsafe” last year during the first round of Covid 19 restrictions, so they played the three songs from that, introducing them as brand new songs.

 “Astraphobia” came near the end of the set and Fawns prefaced “Unsafe” with a long diatribe about inclusion and tolerance.

 They played an energetic  and tight set of original alternative rock with shades of Alanis Morissette, which the attentive audience really enjoyed.

 Fawns was really into her music, bouncing all over the stage and throwing every ounce of her endless energy into her vocals.

 Richard Charlton howled background vocals.

F awns alternated  between soinging and leaping around with playing some rhythm guitar.
