I caught the last part of TJ Waltho, Aaron Trozzo, Paul Holden and Brad Brouwer’s annual Christmas treats— the Charlie Brown/ Ventures Christmas at the Slice , Friday, Dec. 22.
The Slice was packed with holiday revellers.
The band was jamming on some hot jazz to the closing scene from the second Charlie Brown Christmas Special as I arrived.
I caught the end of their Ventures tribute which was similar to their set at the Owl Acoustic lounge last week.
In addition to selections from the Ventures Christmas album, they added more contemporary instrumentals by adding Los Straitjackets’ mash up of “La Bamba’ and “ Feliz Navidad ” and the Kids in the Hall theme “Having an Average Weekend” by Shadowy Men From an Shadowy Planet.
They finished the Christmas show season with a hot cover of “Auld Lang Syne featuring a big Brad Brouwer drum solo and Dick Dale’s surf classic “Mirsirlou.”
They were called back to play an encore of an Andrew Lloyd Webber song.
