Psychomantium  www.myspace.com/apsycomantium  is a melodic metal band that incorporates elements of thrash and death to create their unique sound. The group was spawned in September 2006, following a chance encounter between Dave Khallil and Arik Wagner at a local Lethbridge A.B music store. Currently the band is preparing to release their self-titled debut album. This independent recording conveys themes of social upheaval and ideological warfare, but also hope for change and world redemption. To promote the upcoming release, Psycomantium will embark on a tour of western Canada and the U.S. during the spring and summer of 2010. Following a number of member changes, the Psycomantium line up was solidified when founding members Dave Khallil (guitar/vocals) and Arik Wagner (guitar) were joined by Dustin Gergel (drums) and Marcel Puurveen (bass) in mid 2009. Although the group has been together in its current form for less than one year, their combined playing experience totals nearly four decades. During their short career, Psycomantium have been continually performing live and have opened for a number of touring acts. Some of the most notable of which include Galey record’s Unexpect, and Anonymus, Cyclone record’s Caveat and Wormbox and most recently Practical Art record’s Woods of Ypres. With the vital combination of talent, persistence and uncompromising musical vision, Psycomantium are poised to ascend the metal ranks and sit among the heroes who they have drawn inspiration.

About This City Defects: www.myspace.com/thiscitydefects

Recently completed their first cross- Canada tour, and preparing for their second in May.
A study in contradictions ; Lush instrumentals leading to heavy syncopated grooves, tension filled waves of dissonance give way to heart warming harmonies, the straight ahead pulse of rock counteracted with lyrics filled with surreal imagery.
Touted as an ongoing study in compositional disparity, This City Defects tempers their groove-heavy riffs with provocatively progressive instrumental flourishes.
Parlaying sonic dissonance into the unlikely concord of perpendicular narratives, the fiery Calgary-based quintet pride themselves on bringing a new dimension to their municipality’s typical straight-up rock scene -Christine Leonard (Beatroute Magazine)

Completely untamed representations of shredding and poly rhythmic heart-ceasing sound. Then suddenly, a crisp voice speaking from the mist, guiding your way, only to show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. -Marco Petkovski
