Hailing from Ottawa, ON, alt rockers Project Mars are back with a
vengeance to unleash their most powerful material to date into the
musical landscape while simultaneously lending their talents to help a
worthy cause.
What began as some plain good ol’
banter on the job between three coworkers at a restaurant, soon became
prog rock band Sound Addiction, morphed into a power trio and eventually evolved into alt rock band Project Mars.
After purchasing all the necessary gear to record a debut album,
tackling the learning curve that followed and playing a number of
successful shows, a mix of unforeseen factors led to the dissolution of
Project Mars a year later. But not too long after that is when, in 2010,
a reunion between high school friends Jason Connolly (Guitars/Vocals)
and Ron Henry (Vocals/Guitars) resulted in the beginning of the
resurrection of Project Mars.
Now, Project Mars is
gearing up to release its debut full-length album, Don’t Hold Back, in
September 2012. With the title track an ode to the band’s former bassist
who left to join the army, the record deals with everything from war
and politics to more personal struggles.
Packed
with in-your-face rock and tons of attitude from track to track, Don’t
Hold Back’s first mission is to kick listeners’ asses and its second is
to help raise awareness and funds for multiple sclerosis research,
following a recent diagnosis that hit close to home.

More then just a theory. It is a feeling that lives inside of each &
every one of us since birth. A concept based on control. The idea that
no matter what course of action we take there is always the unknown
variable involved our own personal, and collective fates. No matter what
you do in life sometimes all you can do is sit back & let things
unfold before you...THIS IS RIDING SHOTGUN
Described simply
as dirty anthem rock for a disconnected, rock and roll starved
generation, Riding Shotgun is a band that delivers by walking, not
talking. Originally formed in March of 2009, R.S. is a hard hitting 4
piece from the Toronto area that has been giving other people a lot to
talk about. The hard working group have been creating a buzz in the
business in the last year having shared stages with bands such as
Default, The Cancer Bats, Art of Dying, Bleeker Ridge, Hail The Villain,
The Reason, as well as many other top touring acts, and have played
some of Canada's top venues. With savvy companies realizing their
potential, the band has also recieved endorsements from Dickies
Clothing, Wirez strings, Carparelli guitars, InTune picks, as well as
others coming in monthly as the band gains more and more exposure.
Having just released their EP "Buckle Up" (Available worldwide on sites
such as itunes, napster, amazon, and many others, and available at HMV
record stores across Canada), Riding Shotgun is a tour-ready force with
an unmatched stage show that keeps fans coming back for more. The single
"Got Nothin" will be in rotation on radio in coming weeks with a heavy
touring schedule to follow, so look for the Riding Shotgun bus to be
making its way to a city near you in 2012.
