• Uno is a latin fusion band from Calgary formed in 2012 by three Venezuelan friends Arturo Rondon (vocals, guitar), Juan Antoni (drums) and Pedro Acosta (bass, vocals). Uno’s sound is the result of simple songwriting (mostly in Spanish) reinforced by the blend of latin rhythms like salsa and bossa with other traditional genres like funk, rock and for the most part reggae music.
  

  
  Today the band is grateful to have a strong brass line formed by Stephen Edward (Sax) Jose Soriano (Trumpet) and Oscar Coronado (Trumpet, vocals), and the talented Venezuelan percussionist Luis ‘’El Pana’’ Tovar who is a main contributor on the band’s characteristic latin and tropical style.
  
  After five years playing together Arturo, Juan and Pedro felt ready to embark in a mature musical project, so based on the believes and ideas of unity and oneness they named this project ‘‘Uno’’ (Spanish for ‘One’).
  
  Uno began its activities in 2013 participating at the latin fest ‘‘Fiestaval’’ and at the Venezuelan fair ‘‘Venezuelan Culture Days’’ then, after a couple of months of composing and preparation the band jumped back to the stage. In 2014 Uno made a name for themselves in the Calgary’s music scene. The year started with a successful gig at Tropical Corner where the band eventually played several more times throughout the year. After playing for the second consecutive year at Fiestaval , Uno found a spot to participate in the Calgary International Reggaefest. The guys performed an acoustic set in the Reggaefest’ activity: ‘‘Reggae between continents’’, an event that took place in the National Music Centre where the band had the opportunity to meet and jam with Jamaican world touring band Raging Fyah and Calgary’s own Jory Kinjo. After this first experience with the Reggaefest family, Uno also presented its repertoire on the main stage with the full band on the first day of the festival.
  
  Reggaefest not only gave the band more presence in the city but also opened many doors for them like the opportunity to connect with the successful Canadian reggae band Tasman Jude. This connection led to an opportunity to open for Tasman Jude at the Ironwood Stage and later for a collaboration of the two bands for a Tropical Party at Tropical Corner.
  
  Uno also supported and participated for their second time in the ‘‘Venezuelan Culture Days’’ fair of 2014. Among other places the band performed in Black betty, Destino, Wine Oh’s and private parties.
  
  The band is currently recording their original music and are going to be presenting their productions through out 2015.

The Pzeudo you know and love was not always Pzeudo. In fact, she was once known as Stephanie, and was born a wee, wrinkled, shrieking mass of underwhelmingness one happy summer day in 1989 in the town of Crowsnest Pass. As the years passed she became larger and slightly less shrieky, spiralling toward what is known in certain social circles as "adulthood". While attending high school, she enjoyed spending spare time mashing her digits on a borrowed and never-to-be-returned Roland Juno-60, as well as picking (yes, picking) away at her bass guitar. This led to a few friends and a sister forming an electronic-screamo-rock musical combo called Uptight Epileptic, which received mixed reviews from the locals. Stephanie was a tyrant and did not allow for much contribution from other band members, and the band, unsurprisingly, was short-lived.

    •    She was accepted at Grant Macewan college in Edmonton for their bass guitar program, but never attended because she's a lazy-ass. She spent the next several years writing under the name Thomas Pancake on the Garageband program that came with her laptop, because she's a cheapskate. She tried teaming up with other artists to form a band to play the songs she wrote, but that fell through because she's a tyrant and an introvert. She eventually realized that she should change up the genre she was writing in, because she's not very good at singing. She likes writing raps because she's an English nerd and loves wordplay. And then one day, she became Pzeudo, and all was right with the world.
