Aunts and Uncles feature innovative violin and groovy sounds

E-mail Print PDF

Aunts and Uncles at the Slice. Photo by Richard Amery The Darby and Joan Club were back at the Slice with Aunt and Uncles on Wednesday, Aug. 24.

While I missed the Darby and Joan Club, I arrived in time to see Aunts and Uncles make unique pop/ quirky folk music featuring some innovative violin playing mixed with glockenspiel and what looked like a ukulele with a little bit longer neck.

They set down a cool groove which was almost hypnotic.

The lead singer, wielding a pink Stratocaster, had a distinctive, high pitched voice which gave the band a Smashing Pumpkins playing folk music type of sound.

They had approximately 30 people enraptured by their music.
