The Owl Acoustic Lounge was packed for prostate cancer during a big Movember bash, Nov. 24. 
Moustaches were the order of the evening with ornamental moustaches being issued at the door for those who didn’t grow their own for Movember.
Donations were being taken at the door to raise some money, while various volunteers wandered through the crowd asking for people to adopt their moustaches. There was live music as well, with the main event being Tim Hus, a popular up and coming Canadiana/ roots/ country musicians.
Hus was hilarious and his band — a stand-up bassist and a guitarist/ fiddler — were hot.
Hus’s affable stage presence and earthy humour was a hit as usual as he sang a variety of Canadiana inspired songs about truck drivers, railroaders, downtown Winnipeg and floods and cowboys. Unfortunately I couldn’t hear much in the echoing room and above the chattering crowd.
His band was impressive though, especially the fiddler who lit it up with some superb fiddle based songs.
Joel Stretch and cellist Kris Hodgson opened the show with an upbeat set of acoustic ’90s covers.
