Big River cashes in on Johnny Cash classics

Their second set featured most of my favourite Johnny Cash songs including  “I Walk The Line,” the group’s namesake “Big River,” “ The Ballad of Ira Hayes,” “ Don’t Take Your Guns To Town,“ and an interesting arrangement of  “I Got Rhythm.”

Frontman David James looked the part, all dressed in black and pulling off all of Johnny Cash’s moves.

More importantly, he had Johnny Cash’s baritone voice down. He got the audience singing along with “Daddy Sings Bass” after telling the story of Carl “Blue Suede Shoes” Perkins returning  a favour to Cash by giving him the song.
