Edmonton folk/ rock band  Owls By Nature make their Lethbridge debut at, fittingly, the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Sept. 20
They will be visiting Lethbridge on the way back home after heading all the way out to Vancouver island, then to LethbridgeOwls By Nature play the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Sept. 20. Photo submitted and home through Jasper.

They are just about to release their second CD “Everybody’s Hunted.”
“It’s our second release,” said lead vocalist/ guitarist Ian McIntosh.

“I think it’s  a big step up from our last CD. The songs are more mature,” he said adding while the first CD had religious undertones, the lyrics of  the new  songs are more personal.

They have released their first video on Youtube for the first single “Heartbroken Way.”

“The first video has just been released on Youtube and it has got good response in Edmonton. We’re hoping to get good response elsewhere,” he said.

The concept features the band, all beaten and bloody playing the song.

“We’re all beaten up and bruised. But if you look closely, our lead guitarist Doc isn’t except his knuckles are bandaged. He’s the one who comes up to me and kicks me to get me to play,” he said adding their new lead guitarist is pretty strict and organized, so the band thought they’d have some fun with the idea.
“He’s the one who whips us into shape, so we thought it would be a neat idea” he said.

They are already hard at work on the next video and may record a prequel to the first video after that.

The band which only included bassist/ vocalist Sean Hamilton, Cory D on banjo and Tele-banjo when they began recording the CD with Jay Sparrow, but soon added Doc on lead guitar and Fred Brenton on drums.

In the meantime, McIntosh is pleased with the new songs.

“ This album is more reflective of the personal experiences I’ve had,” he continued.

They are looking forward to playing the Owl Acoustic Lounge.

“We hope people will come and see us. We’ll be playing our best for everyone,” he said. So we’re excited about it.”
