Punk icons Bunchofuckingoofs and Last of the V8 Interceptors rock the punk

There weren’t a  lot of people out at the Moose Hall, Aug. 5 to see Toronto punk icons Bunchofuckingoofs.Bunchofuckingoofs lead singer Steve Goof. photo by Richard Amery
They played an intense show anyway as lead singer Steve Goof barked and howled  as he dangerously  swung his microphone like a mohawked Roger Daltrey.

He strode in front of the band on the dance floor as 20 or so punks stood and watched, some of them emerging to slam dance for a few bars before jumping back into the cluster of punks to watch some more. The rest of the band basically stood still,  staring at the floor, locked into the music and concentrating.

They sounded like a more punk System of the Down mixed with a more pissed off Dead Kennedys and Black Flag.
There were waves of feedback, lots of drums, thundering bass and bone crushing, ear shattering, floor shaking guitar riffs.

I was almost more impressed with opening act  the Last of the V8 Interceptors, a  Victoria punk rock trio inspired by Mad Max and the Road Warriors movie.Last of the V8 Interceptors. Photo by Richard Amery

While the entire audience disappeared downstairs to the bar after opening act the Scallywags finished their boisterous set of beer fuelled punk, they trickled back upstairs for the Last of the V8 Interceptors.

they get extra cool points for being inspired by the Road Warrior.
They reminded me of a blend of Subhumans, Iggy Pop and the New York Dolls singing about Mad Max, so there were plenty of hot guitar solos and catchy almost classic rock and metal inspired guitar riffs. They sang about muscle cars and the Road Warrior lead villain the Humoungous.

One of the highlights was “The Dingo Ate Your Baby.”
They will be back to open for the Dayglo Abortions at the Moose Hall, Sept, 16 with the Scallywags and the Dregs.
