“I really love Lethbridge. The last time we were there a lot of people showed a lot of love. I played a show for MaseOne and DJ Booda, rest in peace. He was a huge stepping stone for the scene. And he was a really great person,” said SonReal, aka Aaron Hoffman, getting ready to do a  sound check for the first tour date of the tour at the Lucky Bar in Victoria.

“I’ve just completed a new album, but it won’t be out until early 2014, so I’m just touring the SonReal brand,” he continued.
He is playing Edmonton and Calgary then goes back to  the Vancouver are to play Whistler before flying to Toronto for several shows in Southern Ontario.

He has just released the first video“ Everywhere We Go” for the new CD and has been working on the second.
He is very happy with the new CD.

“’I’ve been working on it for the past 11 months. I wanted to do something that was really great instead of something I was just really happy with,” he continued adding whether it will be ‘really great’ remains to be seen.

He is also a sound engineer, but instead of mixing it himself, sent it to Dan Weston in Toronto.
“There are a lot of melodies, there is a lot of me singing an a lot of great raps on it,” he said adding it is already the most polished album he has released.

“it is also really short  with 12 songs and definitely the most personal,” he continued.

“It’s undoubtably my best work. People will definitely get to know who I am and where I come from,” he continued.

“It is definitely more personal, it really doesn’t sound like anybody else out there. it really defines who I am. I didn't plan it that way. It just how it happened,” he said.
In a word, he said the Lethbridge show will be about balance.

“The best way I can describe it is it is ‘well rounded.’ There will be old stuff that everyone knows and new ones. It is designed to get the audience to listen to the words more,” he said.
“I’m really looking forward to getting back there. Lethbridge is a very cool place. There are a lot of really cool people there,” he said.
The show begins at 9 p.m.  at Studio 54 with special guests, Rise and Transit. Tickets are $15 at the door.
