Jay Bowcott plays for a long weekend crowd

E-mail Print PDF

It is always great to see Medicine Hat songwriter Jay Bowcott playing Lethbridge.

He returned to the Owl Acoustic Lounge, May 17 for a surprisingly good sized audience considering it was  a long weekend.Jay Bowcott returned to Lethbridge, May 17. Photo by Richard Amery

He was in  the mood to play covers,  ending with appealing covers of John Hiatt and several more to wind up his first set.

He strummed his acoustic guitar while stomping at a bass and snare drum set at his feet. He had a good sized  portion of the audience paying attention to him.

There were more covers  in the second set including a solid version of Willie Nelson’s “On The Road Again.”

A decent version of Blue Rodeo’s “Cold December Night ( Hasn’t Hit Me Yet.)” was also a highlight.
He added a lead guitarist after that.
