David James plays Johnny Cash hits

I caught the end of  David James' Big River the Johnny Cash Tribute at Average Joes, June 30.

I arrived in the middle of “ I Got Stripes” and just in time to hear one of my favourites “ A Boy Name Sue.”

Frontman David James, dressed in black of course, wandered through the appreciative crowd,“searching for the man who named me  Sue,” and getting them to sing a few lines.

He returned to the stage to retrieve a toy cap gun, which he fired in the air and put next to his lead guitarists' head.

He was called back for an encore, which began with a few bars from “ the Good, the Bad and the Ugly” and segued into another of my favourites “ Ghost Riders in the Sky” and got the crowd to sing along with that as well. He called it a night with “ Folsom Prison Blues.”
