Saskatoon based band the Young Benjamins including Neusha Mofazzali, Kuba Szmigielski, Vaero Poulin, Brynn Krysa, are tough to categorize. They play an array of festivals from indie rock festivals like Sled Island to jazz festivals and folk festivals like Ness Creek Music Festival but have never played South Country Fair. The Young Benjamins come to the South Country Fair this week. “We don’t know what to expect,” said frontman/ guitarist Neusha Mofazzali.

“ There's no real explanation except that audiences enjoy our music,” he said. They have been playing together for two and-a-half years.

“We started off as a folk rock band and have moved towards more indie rock music. There is lots of violin so we get called a folk band. We’re all classically trained,” he said.
“We think the festival is more traditional music, so we‘ll probably play a lot of our more violin driven traditional songs and maybe some indie rock songs,” he continued.

They are touring in support on their new 11 song full length CD “Less Argue.”

“It came out mid last year, so we’re still supporting that,” he said.
The Young Benjamins play the South Country Fair, Saturday, July 19 at 10 p.m.
